Proposal provides incentives and easy credit to expand sustainable alternatives in the field

The Senate’s Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Committee (CRA) will discuss, this Wednesday (12), Bill 1,348/2024, which aims to stimulate the use of bioinputs in national agricultural production. The proposal suggests changes in the legislation to encourage more sustainable practices in the sector, including special incentives and new lines of credit for producers who adopt these inputs.

Bioinputs are biological products developed from living organisms, such as bacteria and fungi, which aid in plant growth, soil quality and pest control. The initiative aims to strengthen Brazilian agricultural policy, promoting alternatives that reduce dependence on chemical products and minimize environmental impacts.

The bill has a favorable opinion in the CRA and, if approved, will proceed to the Chamber of Deputies, unless there is an appeal for a vote in the Senate Plenary.

Other topics on the agenda

In addition to the incentive for bioinputs, the committee will analyze Bill 3,591/2019, which proposes reducing the Financial Compensation for Mineral Exploration (CFEM) rate on agricultural limestone to 0.2%, a measure that could reduce production costs and increase the competitiveness of the sector.

Another highlight is the request to summon the Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Sonia Guajajara, to clarify issues regarding a protocol signed between her department and the company Ambipar, involving sustainable initiatives in indigenous territories. The meeting took place in room 7 of the Alexandre Costa wing, in the Federal Senate.
