Event in Uberaba generated over R$90 million in 25 auctions and highlighted the search for genetic excellence

On Wednesday, August 28, the Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders (ABCZ) released the results of the 17th ExpoGenética, the main fair for evaluated zebu cattle in Brazil, held in Uberaba (MG). This year, the event had the participation of 940 animals and 111 exhibitors, offering a more comprehensive program and setting new records in the sale of cattle, with 25 auctions and six shopping malls.

The total revenue from the ExpoGenética auctions reached R$90,067,060.00, marking an impressive growth of 72.2% compared to the R$52,280,016.00 recorded in 2023, when 20 auctions took place. It is important to note that these figures do not include animal shopping malls.

In this edition, 1,141 zebu breeds were sold, 228 more than last year. The average value per animal also increased significantly, rising from R$57,261.79 in 2023 to R$78,936.95, an increase of 37.8%.

Gabriel Garcia Cid, president of ABCZ, expressed satisfaction with the results: “The numbers are impressive and confirm that ExpoGenética is a national reference in zebu cattle farming. To meet the growing demand from producers, we have prepared an even more complete fair, with the goal of presenting technological innovations that will shape the future of the sector.”

The PNAT Auction, the seventh edition of the National Young Bull Evaluation Program, was also a success, generating R$1.5 million and selling 46 animals. The 15th edition of the PNAT consolidated the program as a reference in the identification of high genetic value breeders.

In addition to business, the event received 65 visitors from 17 countries, interested in learning more about Brazilian zebu farming. The Zebu Museum welcomed 864 students from different levels of education, offering practical and interactive activities on the historical and economic importance of the zebu.

The 7th ABCZ Women’s Meeting, with lectures by Hortência Marcari and Shiro Nishimura, brought together more than 500 people at the Rômulo Kardec Events Center in Camargos, while the 15th Rural Youth Meeting, held in Minas Gerais, was attended by 200 students and agricultural successors.

The fair also celebrated the inauguration of new facilities at Parque Fernando Costa and paid tribute to notable personalities for their contributions to the agricultural sector, through the Mérito ExpoGenética and Mérito ABCZ Mulher awards. Other events included the 4th Meeting of Participating Breeders of the PMGZ and several round tables and technical lectures.

The 17th ExpoGenética was held with the support of Sebrae, BB Seguros, CNA/Faemg/Senar, Emater Minas Gerais, and was sponsored by Neogen and Romancini Troncos e Balanças. The official coffee was provided by Dona Nenem and the official beer by Itaipava, part of the Petrópolis Group.
