The biodiesel sector held a meeting with the vice president and minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, this Friday (3).
In a press release, the sector’s entities emphasize that Alckmin recognizes the importance of resuming the blending of biodiesel with fossil diesel and advocate that the minister coordinate discussions on the topic within the government.
“For the sector, the role of the vice president in coordinating these discussions on biodiesel within the government is very important,” they say in the note.
The associations that participated in the meeting committed to presenting the vice president with documents that prove the positive effect of the increased use of biodiesel on the economy, health, the environment, agriculture and job creation.
Yesterday, the segment had met with the minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, to discuss the national energy policy.
Although the sector assessed the meeting as “very positive”, it reaffirmed the need for an “urgent decision by the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE)” on the issue of mandatory blending.
