Commitment to releasing Ferrogrão and improvement works on BRs 158 and 242. These were some of the points discussed by the governor of Mato Grosso, Mauro Mendes, during a meeting with the Minister of Transportation, Renan Filho, in Brasília (DF), on Thursday (26).
During the meeting in the federal capital, Mauro Mendes highlighted that the works are important both for Brazilian agribusiness and for the entire population of Mato Grosso.
According to the governor, Ferrogrão is considered an important alternative for the flow of the state’s production, which will be added to the State Railway made possible by the Government of Mato Grosso. Ferrogrão connects the city of Sinop to the port of Miritituba, in Pará.
“These are important works that I am sure that, with the experience of Minister Renan Filho, will be carried out in Mato Grosso”, Mendes pointed out at the meeting.
The Minister of Transportation, Renan Filho, affirms that he recognizes the importance of Mato Grosso for national development. “We are dedicated to improving infrastructure and making life easier for producers and residents in the region. We will prioritize these projects in Mato Grosso, such as the 242 and 158 highways.”
Federal highways suffer from potholes and mud
According to the head of the executive branch of Mato Grosso, there is a 120-kilometer stretch of BR-158 that needs to be completed and has not been approved for the works, which hinders the transportation of cargo and the population’s traffic due to mud, potholes and traffic jams.
The stretch of BR-158 in question goes around the Marãiwatsédé reserve, cutting through the municipalities of Bom Jesus do Araguaia, Serra Nova Dourada and Alto Boa Vista.
On BR-242, the main problem highlighted by Mauro Mendes is in the stretch that connects the district of Santiago do Norte to Querência, due to pending environmental licenses.
Speed in the concession of BR-364 is requested
The meeting in Brasília was attended by Senators Wellington Fagundes, Jayme Campos and Margareth Buzetti, in addition to the Secretaries of State Mauro Carvalho (Civil House) and Rogério Gallo (Finance).
On the occasion, Senator Wellington Fagundes requested that the Ministry of Transport “speed up” the concession of BR-364 between Rondonópolis and the municipality of Jataí, in Goiás.
“BR-364, from Rondonópolis to Jataí, which has already been duplicated to Jataí, is a concession that the ministry is already working on together with ANTT [National Land Transport Agency]. This concession is extremely important and viable as well,” Fagundes highlighted.
