São Paulo, 8 – Brazil’s foreign exchange revenue from exports of fresh and processed pork in October was US$313.3 million, a record for a month and 56.4% higher than the same period in 2023, when it was US$200.3 million, the Brazilian Protein Association (ABPA) reported in a statement when releasing the data from its survey. The previous record was in July of this year, with US$309.4 million.

The result was achieved with exports of 130.9 thousand tons of pork, the second largest monthly volume in the history of the sector and 40.7% higher than the shipments in October 2023, of 93 thousand tons. The record is from July of this year, with 138.3 thousand tons.

In October, Santa Catarina remained the largest exporter of pork in Brazil, with 68.6 thousand tons, a balance 45.7% higher than in the same month last year. Rio Grande do Sul, with 27.6 thousand tons (+25.6%), Paraná, with 20.6 thousand tons (+44.5%), Mato Grosso, with 3 thousand tons (-19.2%) and Mato Grosso do Sul, with 2.9 thousand tons (+54.6%), completed the list of the largest exporters.

In 2024

From January to October, 1.121 million tons were shipped abroad, an increase of 10.7% over the same period last year, with 1.013 million tons. Revenue reached US$ 2.482 billion, 5.2% higher than in the same period in 2023, with US$ 2.361 billion.

In the year to date, the Philippines took first place for Brazilian pork exports for the first time, with 206 thousand tons, 103.3% more than in the same period of the previous year. Next came China, with 199.9 thousand tons (-40.6%), Chile, with 92.5 thousand tons (+33.9%), Hong Kong, with 89.4 thousand tons (-11.8%) and Japan, with 75.8 thousand tons (+137.2%).
