Starting February 3, rural producers who earned more than R$360,000 in 2023 or 2024 must issue an Electronic Tax Invoice (NFe) for transactions within their own state. For interstate transactions, the requirement applies to all producers, regardless of their revenue.

The change was established by the National Council for Tax Policy (Confaz) and aims to increase control and transparency in operations in the agricultural sector. According to the Brazilian Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock (CNA), which released a Technical Communication on the subject, the new system will replace the physical invoice, ensuring greater fiscal security.

Producers with revenues of less than R$360,000 will have a longer period to adapt: the requirement for this group only begins on January 5, 2026. The issuance of the NFe will be carried out by the states and the Federal District.

Producers must be informed about the process to avoid difficulties in the transition.
