Fertilizer deliveries from mixers to Brazilian producers totaled 3.8 million tons in October last year, down 18% compared to the same month in 2021, Anda, which brings together industries in the segment, announced on Tuesday.
From January to October 2022, the volume delivered reached 34 million tons, down 11% compared to the same period the previous year. Mato Grosso, the leader in purchases, concentrated the largest receipt in the period analyzed (23.5%), with 8 million tons.
Following are Rio Grande do Sul (3.72 million tons), Goiás (3.69 million tons), São Paulo (3.59 million tons), Paraná (3.51 million tons) and Minas Gerais (3.22 million tons).
Atypical scenario
“In 2022, the scenario was atypical, with challenges related to geopolitical crises. But the Brazilian market remains supplied,” says Ricardo Tortorella, executive director of Anda, in a note.
The industry recalls the need for the country to reduce its dependence on imports. Brazil buys around 85% of the nutrients used in the foreign market.
Local production
The national production of intermediate fertilizers totaled 641 thousand tons in October, an increase of 1.9% compared to the same month in 2021.
Also according to Anda, from January to October of last year, 6.26 million tons were produced in the country, an increase of 6.2%.
