Faesp report reveals significant growth in the disbursement of resources for agriculture
The most recent Rural Credit Monitoring report from the Economic Department of the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of the State of São Paulo (Faesp) revealed that the 2023/24 Brazilian harvest ended with a total disbursement of R$398.8 billion, representing an increase of 11% compared to the R$359.2 billion of the previous harvest.
Of this amount, R$59.2 billion was allocated to the National Program for Strengthening Family Farming (Pronaf), representing 14.9% of the total. Another R$49.4 billion was allocated to the National Program for Supporting Medium-Sized Rural Producers (Pronamp), corresponding to 12.4%, while corporate agriculture received R$290.1 billion, or 72.7% of the total disbursed.
The amount contracted by Pronaf showed an increase of 11.4% compared to the last harvest. However, the number of contracts increased by 15.3%, resulting in a lower average ticket for these operations. Regarding Pronamp, the disbursement remained similar to the 2022/23 cycle, but there was a reduction of approximately 10% in the number of contracts, totaling 21,073 fewer operations.
The greatest expansion in terms of the amount disbursed was observed in corporate agriculture, with an increase of 13.1%, equivalent to R$33.5 billion. Rural credit for industrialization and commercialization was also in greater demand in the 2023/24 harvest, with the number of contracts for these purposes growing by 11.3% and 7.6%, respectively.
These data reflect the continued growth and robustness of the Brazilian agricultural sector, highlighting the importance of rural credit in supporting and developing agricultural production in the country.
